There are lots of really great articles out there about how to style a maxi. Lots. But styling your breastfeeding maxi is a whole new genre of fashion that I'm here to help you with today. You see, it would be cute to put a big old sweater over that maxi and maybe even cinch it with a belt but that's not even remotely breastfeeding friendly, right? No. So here's three ways to style that breastfeeding maxi that you may have and of course it's still super easy to breastfeed your baby:
1. PAIR IT WITH DENIM
You might just be kicking yourself right now for throwing your clothes out from the 80s but denim is making a big comeback and dare I admit, it's cute!
That last image is really small so here ya go in normal eye form:
Want to add a sleeveless denim jacket to your wardrobe? The one featured in the image directly above is only $28 at Target (looks pretty cute with maxis too!).
2. Steal your partner's shirts!
I say that with sincere affection. But seriously - did you borrow any shirts while you were pregnant?
Just keep on using them for a little longer:
This one is a black and white flannel which I love. Just tie it up tight and not only do you have some new waist definition, but you've got some serious style going on. Quite a few subscribers have this pink maxi which they used for breastfeeding portraits, but look how easily it transitions to something you could wear out and about or to a playdate?
3. Pair it with an old-button down
Do you have a nice crisp shirt that doesn't quite button anymore? Lucky you! That's just what you need! A cardigan isn't always the go-to but a crisp, unbuttoned shirt sure does help you beat the chill in that awesome "summer" maxi. Please enjoy the before and after:
FYI - that blue button down is a J.Crew shirt that I haven't been able to button across the bust in years.
This is just the start of all of the fun ways you can transition your summer clothes for fall. As usual, there will be more styling tips incoming. Don't be afraid to get yourself some breastfeeding clothes and WORK IT. I promise, you will feel a million times better. You CAN breastfeed that gorgeous, new baby easily and look good too.
